High School Book Club

High School Book Club

is all about :

*reading harder books you might not have thought of reading

*learning to read the parts of the book that aren't written...  what is the book trying to say?

*having fun talking about the books!

When do we meet?  What Do I need to know?

FIRST BOOK:   Pudd'nhead Wilson by Mark Twain

We will meet on Monday October 5  - 2:30-4 pm

(either in person or via digital platform)

Read the book!  It is a hard read - and I hope that some of the themes might make you very uncomfortable.   (what's a theme?  we'll learn about that in book club!)

1.  make a reading schedule so you stay on track and don't get behind.  Its hard enough to read but harder yet when you have to read 1/2 of it in a week!

2.  Its ok to read some chapter summary online if you're having trouble understanding the language or what is giong on.  I recommend Schmoop.

3.  Make some notes as you read!  Look for these things:
*places where people pretend to be someone they're not

*twins or "2 peas in a pod!"

*ask yourself...  Is this person they way they ar because of race/family  or because of how they were raised?
